Welcome to Kilombo Tenondé Center for Capoeira Angola and Permaculture!

Directed by “Mestre Cobra Mansa,” this center combines the art of Capoeira Angola with the practice of permaculture through a series of activities, events and volunteer opportunities. Together with local farmers several activities are also held encouraging the production of agricultural products without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers (including: cacao, cinammon, crove, urucum, palm, guaraná, manica, jaca fruit, vegetables and more).

The Kilombo is located in Bonfim, a small village close to the city of Valença. The area has native forest mixed with areas of agriculture and areas that are reforested. The property has a swimable river and a great number of fruit trees. It also has a garden that supplies most of the vegetables for participants.

How to Arrive

How to get to Kilombo Tenondé, From Salvador- Catch a ferry boat to Bom Despacho, from there you’ll take a bus to the city of Valença. Go through the bus terminal and take another bus to the Povoado de Bomfim. Ask the motorist to drop you off at the Kilombo. In case you wait a long time for the bus at the terminal in Valenca another option is to take a Combi (white VW van) which would be 3 reais at the fair of Valença, which passes at the Povoado de Bonfim. It’s a 10-15 minute walk from the bus terminal to the fair. If you arrive after 17:20 and don’t see a bus or Combi (VM Hippie Van), you can catch a taxi to the Povoado de Bonfim. There will be Nelson, a capoeira mestre and taxi driver that helps out by offering rides to the Kilombo for 50 reais. It would normally cost a lot more since it’s 20 kilometers to the Kilombo.

His number is (75) 3611-2663 or (75) 9147-1895 The bus times for the Valenca-Povoado de Bonfim is below. The average price is R$2.65.
